Director of Infection Control, (RN)

Our client, Our client, a teaching hospital with multiple ambulatory sites is hiring a Director of Infection Control, (RN).

Job Responsibilities:

• Direct Infection Control Program in collaboration with the Hospital Epidemiologist (HE), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and the Infection Control Department. Oversight and management of daily operation of the Epidemiology Department and serve as a mentor/resource for the Infection Control Manager

• Provide analytics and data management, evaluate the program annually and implement prevention strategies in collaboration with front-line workers and leadership

• Maintain current knowledge of all existing and emerging regulations and national guidelines specific to preventable events related to infections

• Identify and maintain awareness of any unsanitary conditions

• Collaborate with hospital leaders to execute evidence-based infection control practices

• Assess surveillance data to identify trends & initiate preventive measures

• Investigates outbreaks (hospital-based & outpatient clinics)

• Gathers & analyzes special information for use in research investigation, this requires review of patient EMR, equipment, environmental epidemiological procedures

• Maintains liaison with community agencies to monitor discharged patients under treatment for communicable diseases.

• Annually review and revise the OSHA bloodborne pathogen standard, infection control scope of services, action plan & risk assessment

• Work closely & collaborate with local, state, and federal organizations to report communicable diseases

• Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Center for Medicaid & Medicare services (CMS) and related regulatory agencies.

• Actind as the departmental subject matter expert with stakeholders to develop & review hospital policies regarding infection control

• Develop comprehensive policies & procedures incorporating CDC, professional organizational guidelines and evidence-based practice

• Performs risk assessments

• Develops infection control training program for healthcare professionals (residents, registered nurses, support service personnel)

• Provide training

• Promotes professional growth of ICPs through participation in local professional organizational meetings and webinars

• Work with and prepare departmental budget, review monthly financial statements pertaining to staff etc.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

• Advanced degree in a health-related field (i.e. Master's in Public Health, Master's in Epidemiology, Masters in Infection Control)

• License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State

• Certification in Infection Control by the Certification (CIC) preferred

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Infection Control
