Job Summary:

Patuxent Roofing & Contracting, LLC is looking for a Safety Manager to assist, and help maintain our safety programs, ensure a safe work environment, and assist in growing and maintaining our safety culture. This position requires spending around 70% of time in the field, including regular site visits to inspect projects for safety compliance and follow up on corrective measures. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Safety Manager to make a significant impact on the safety culture of our organization.


Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing our safety programs around job site safety practices including fall protection, hazard communication, and other safety related items. Ability to speak in front of others and conduct training in groups.
  • Inspect Patuxent Roofing projects for safety compliance, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Assist in creating Site Specific Safety Plans, and Activity Hazard Analyses, to create and maintain a safe workplace.
  • Ensuring safety compliance with all applicable OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations, monitor and enforce the requirements of the safety manual, and any owner-specific requirements.
  • Assist in the development of safety training for employees on safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify safety issues that directly affect employees or pose a liability to the company.
  • Assist in the develop of policies and train personnel.
  • Maintaining safety compliance while working directly with our Project Managers, Superintendents, Subcontractors and Suppliers.
  • Conduct safety orientation for all employees.
  • Establish and manage a safety committee at local branch.
  • Assist with OSHA agency-level audits as needed.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and make independent judgments concerning the general safety of workers.
  • Other tasks as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety/Safety Management or a related field. Field experience may be considered as alternate experience.
  • Procore Experience Preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience developing, implementing effective solutions, and maintaining safety programs with measurable results.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations and procedures.
  • Must have or willing to acquire the following training and certifications:
    1. OSHA 30-hour in Construction 1926 and working knowledge of it.
    2. Willingness to acquire an OSHA 500.
    3. Willingness to acquire EM 385
    4. Recognized BCSP certification preferred but not required.
  • Problem solving, oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat proficiency.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and a clean motor vehicle record.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety/Safety Management or a related field is preferred. Field experience may be considered as alternate experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
