Job DescriptionJob Description

A highway construction company with two aggregate plants is seeking to hire a full-time Risk Management and Safety Representative (Safety Administrator, Safety Representative I-IV, Risk and Safety Manager, or Risk and Safety Director). We are a Southern California based general engineering contractor with operations consisting of primarily highway and street construction, and rock, sand, and gravel quarry operations with related hot mix asphalt facilities.

The Candidate will be expected to work in a team environment and have a strong, professional work ethic. We offer a competitive salary (based upon qualifications & experience), benefits, and more. Selected candidates will be required to pass a drug test and a thorough background check after offered the position.

Required Skill Sets:

  • Team player
  • Detail orientated
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent judgment, situational awareness, and common sense.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on correct grammar.
  • Familiarity of CAL-OSHA regulations or MSHA regulations.
  • Familiarity of federal, state, and local safety laws.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Provide complete, thorough, and professional health, safety, and environmental advice.
  • Manage, implement, or develop company safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote and maintain a positive safety culture by forecasting and assessing health and safety hazards throughout the entire workforce.

Desired Experience:

  • 1 year minimum proven experience in safety (In the construction industry preferred, but not required).

Compensation:

  • Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Full benefits (Health/Dental).
  • Vacation/Sick days.
  • Retirement plan.

Special Consideration or Requirements:

  • Must be trainable.
  • Must be able to travel (Southern California)
  • Must have a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Position also requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
