Position Overview:
Venus Construction is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Survey Technician to join our team. The Survey Technician will play a critical role in supporting our construction projects by conducting accurate field surveys and measurements for underground utility installations. This position requires a strong understanding of surveying principles, equipment, and software, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field surveys to collect data and measurements for underground utility construction projects.
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS units, and levels.
  • Perform topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys to ensure accurate project execution.
  • Assist in the preparation of survey maps, sketches, and reports using AutoCAD or other surveying software.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction crews to ensure accurate and efficient survey data collection and utilization.
  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies in survey data and report any issues to project management.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal surveying regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of survey data, field notes, and other relevant project documentation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working in various field conditions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in surveying, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Survey Technician or in a similar surveying role, preferably in underground utility construction.
  • Proficiency in operating surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS units, and levels.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, and other surveying software.
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various job sites as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to carry surveying equipment and tools.
  • Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
