Job DescriptionJob Description

Summary

The Project Coordinator oversees UCEPP in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. This role focuses on engaging and empowering community members, particularly people experiencing homelessness, to promote a healthier environment. Responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to address alcohol and other drug related (AOD) problems using the Strategic Prevention Framework, in alignment with LA County SAPC guidelines. The candidate must be skilled in driving community health norms and policy changes through advocacy and collaboration with stakeholders and decision-makers. Supervisorial experience is essential.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Oversee the daily operations of the UCEPP project, including planning, implementing, and evaluating service activities. This includes conducting research, coordinating efforts, and building partnerships to drive community policy changes.

2.    Manage and support contract compliance activities, including documentation, evaluation, and reporting requirements.

3.    Coordinate all stages of organizing, such as local assessments to determine community needs, workplan development and implementation, and ongoing evaluation.

4.    Lead initiatives to change social norms and policies that promote a safe and healthy environment in Skid Row, with a focus on preventing and reducing access to AOD.

5.    Create and distribute educational materials on the dangers of substance abuse and related issues.

6.    Establish and maintain working relationships with community organizations, schools, churches, and other stakeholders to support community-driven efforts and policy changes.

7.    Facilitate and implement policy campaign activities by identifying key decision-makers and coordinating with community stakeholders and leaders.

8.    Collaborate with the Sr. Director and Evaluation team to develop and improve quantitative and qualitative methods, procedures, and instruments for evaluating the program’s success and measuring the effectiveness and sustainability of data, policies, and practices.

9.    Implement evidence-based prevention curricula with fidelity and support staff development through leadership, quality assurance protocols, and training opportunities.

10.  Participate in the recruitment, training, supervision, and annual evaluations of staff, while developing and overseeing staff training opportunities.

11.  Complete all contractual reporting requirements and perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

1.    A bachelor's degree in public health, public policy, or a similar field from an accredited college; a master's degree in said disciplines preferred.

2.    In lieu of education, a minimum of three (3) years of full-time employment in public health, community organizing, and/or social justice advocacy required.

3.    A minimum of three (3) years of experience working with systems impacted individuals and/or people experiencing homelessness.

4.    A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in the areas of budgeting, facility operation, and personnel.
