Job Title: Quality Engineer

 

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for meticulous inspection processes to ensure the quality of incoming raw materials and various components. This role involves utilizing handheld Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), vision inspection systems, as well as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other inspection tools to guarantee the compliance of products with established quality standards. Additionally, the candidate should be able to read and interpret product drawings and possess knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Incoming Inspection:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials and components using vision inspection systems, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other relevant tools.
  • Identify and document any deviations from established quality standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.

 

  1. Use of Handheld CMM and Inspection Tools:
  • Operate handheld coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) with proficiency to measure and analyze components.
  • Utilize vision inspection systems to assess product quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other inspection tools for precise measurements.

 

  1. Reading and Interpreting Product Drawings:
  • The ability to read and interpret product drawings is crucial to ensure accurate inspection based on design specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to clarify drawing details and specifications.

 

  1. GD&T Knowledge:
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to understand and verify product design requirements.
  • Ensure that products meet the specified tolerances and geometric features outlined in GD&T.
  1. Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of inspection results and communicate the findings to the Quality Manager.
  • Generate inspection reports, documenting deviations and suggesting improvements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement quality improvements based on inspection data.

 

  1. Training and Development:
  • Train colleagues on quality control processes, inspection tools, and interpreting product drawings.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in inspection technologies.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  1. Experience:
  • The candidate should possess proven experience in incoming inspection of raw materials and components.
  • The candidate should have familiarity with vision inspection systems, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other quality control tools.

 

 

  1. Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in using handheld Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and vision inspection systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret product drawings.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

 

  1. Education:

· Some college education in a related field is preferred.

  • Willingness to train the right individual with a strong aptitude for quality control.

 

  1. Communication:
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

 

  1. Problem-Solving:
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and address quality issues.
  • Proactive approach to implementing corrective actions.

VST is a supplier of gasoline dispensing equipment for retail fueling outlets and is in need of an individual with and Engineering Degree. Electrical knowledge is also helpful. This person will become familiar with the entire VST product line, which includes gasoline hoses, safety breakaways, nozzles and vapor processors. VST has primarily provided solution focused on the US retail refueling market. With increased activities in the US market and Mexico emerging as a large international market potential, VST needs to provide strong field support of the GREEN MACHINE Vapor Recovery Processor and associated components. GREEN MACHINE is a sophisticated unit that require expertise for installation, operation, and start-up. Also, the Green Machine is still early in its life cycle and evaluations and improvements are constant activities.
