We are seeking a results-driven individual to join our growing organization as a Technical Project Manager at our headquarters in San Jose, CA.

Job Summary:


This opportunity is specific to Projects that are Hardware and Instrument related (and not Software or Facilities/Industrial related projects). Highly desired - Medical projects experience, in a Life Sciences, Biotech, Pharma industries.

We are looking for an experienced technical project manager to organize and coordinate long term technical projects within the company. The project manager will provide strategic guidance and leadership to teams to promote the health of these projects. The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader, possess excellent budget and schedule management skills and will have experience in managing staff of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner. In this role you will be responsible for project delivery, profit loss accountability, and

customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources. You will execute standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Manage one or several concurrent projects with annual revenue budgets up to $2-5M.
  • Responsible for overseeing the project and direct or indirect leadership and/or management of project resources for small-medium-large sized projects (size in relation to Gener8 company) that may include equipment-only, product design, or direct to NPI custom projects.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers. Good understanding of how the work of one team integrates with other teams and contributes to the project success.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures.
  • Consults senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • Develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and Gener8. Additionally, can explain technical information to others.
  • Execute contracts for compliance and client satisfaction.
  • Comprehend project’s critical functions, technical specifications, and issues of a project and deliver concise information to clients and executives.
  • Create and maintain budgets and schedule for projects.
  • Lead a technical team from architecture phase to production release in the development process using a gate phase process.
  • Drive, manage, monitor, and report the timely delivery of project results.
  • Ensure and facilitate the highest standard of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Develop scope of work proposals with estimates for each project phase.
  • Create technical and project documents (Project Scope, DDPs, phase gate documents, Risk Management Files, ECOs, etc.).
  • Assemble data for invoicing and project reporting activities.
  • Identify and escalate project issues in a timely manner to the appropriate level of management.
  • Meet with stakeholders to discuss project status and goals.

Background Required:

  • Engineering Bachelor’s degree, (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) and Master’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in Project Management in the field of life sciences is a must. PMI is nice to have.
  • Experience with instrument development preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral written)
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills required
  • Strong customer service experience and focus
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Experience troubleshooting problems, finding and implementing solutions
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of program/project management software (Smartsheets, PBI, MS Project etc.) is a strong advantage
  • PMP strongly preferred. Candidates with a PMP certification will be given priority.

Working Conditions:

Position requires gowning procedures for a controlled environment. Typically works around high-speed machinery, hydraulics, electric, and pneumatics requiring Lockout Tag Out Procedure to be followed and close attention given to safety. May require the use of eye protection, as needed, and hearing protection when working in high noise level area. Additional PPE may be required, i.e. gloves, face masks, face shields, depending on the specific job being performed and company safety rules and regulations.
