Grooming, 1 year (Required)

Surf Dog Pets, LLC in Yorktown, VA, a busy and established grooming facility, is looking for an immediate hire of an experienced Pet Groomer to join our team. If you have an upbeat, positive personality, professionalism, stamina and great pet handling skills, we may have a Full Time or Part Time position available for you. Successful candidates will have hands-on experience providing grooming services to all breeds of dogs with a keen eye for details. You will be responsible for grooming and maintaining a clean safe environment. We are a team and work as one.

Responsibilities

• Must be punctual and maintain a positive and professional attitude with team members and clients.
• Must be able to work 7am-4pm
• Must be able to engage with clients and communicate effectively, efficiently and positively all questions about grooming needs.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, efficiently and positively with co-workers
• Must be able to work during holidays and weekends. We are closed most major holidays and work one (1) Saturday each month with an abbreviated schedule.
• Must be proficient with scissor work and clippers; able to de-mat
• Must be able to working with all breeds of dogs
• Must know how to bathe and dry dogs
• Must maintain a clean safe work environment and practice safe grooming procedures at all times, to include cleaning and sanitizing daily
• Must have experience working in a high volume salon
• Must be able to groom at least 7 (full haircuts) a day
• Must be able to supply own equipment (clippers, blades, scissors, brushes, nail trimmers, etc.)
• Must be a team player, working in a team environment but also be able to work independently
• Must take pride in your work and groom with integrity

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Qualifications:

• Must have experience and willing to show us some of your work
• Must be comfortable handling dogs of all breeds and temperaments
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds or more with no assistance
• Must be passionate about the well-being of pets

• Wednesday
• Thursday
• Friday
• One Saturday a month (7-12)
• Major Holidays Off

Typical start time:

• 7AM

We love what we do but this can be a dirty job and requires someone who can interact with animals in a calm and non-threatening manner. You will be getting wet, have dog hair on you, and have to clean up after the animals in our care.
