Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Fabricator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, with a strong emphasis on creating flat patterns, operating brake presses, and proficiently using MIG and TIG welding techniques. In addition to technical expertise, the Lead Fabricator will be responsible for overseeing and guiding a team of young welders, providing mentorship, training, and ensuring quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

Sheet Metal Fabrication: Utilize expertise in sheet metal fabrication techniques to interpret engineering drawings, create flat patterns, and accurately produce components and assemblies to specifications.

Brake Press Operation: Operate brake presses efficiently and safely to bend and form sheet metal according to project requirements.

Welding Expertise: Perform MIG and TIG welding tasks with precision, ensuring strong and durable welds on various metals and alloys.

Supervision and Training: Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to a team of junior welders, overseeing their work, providing constructive feedback, and facilitating their skill development.

Quality Control: Implement and maintain high standards of quality control throughout the fabrication process, conducting thorough inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.

Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures in the fabrication workshop, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.

Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance and upkeep of fabrication equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Collaboration: Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to optimize fabrication processes, troubleshoot issues, and achieve project objectives efficiently.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, including flat pattern development, brake press operation, and MIG/TIG welding.

Proven supervisory or leadership experience, with the ability to effectively manage and mentor a team of welders.

Strong knowledge of metallurgy, welding techniques, and fabrication processes.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
