A staff accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring accurate financial operations within an organization. Key duties include:

  1. Financial Record Maintenance: Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded in the company’s accounting system.
  2. Accounts Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable and receivable, and other balance sheet accounts.
  3. Report Preparation: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  4. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  6. Internal Controls: Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and procedures.
  7. Audits: Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
  8. Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll processing and related activities.
  9. Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports.
  10. Special Projects: Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
