Job Summary:

The Journeyman Electrical Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure optimal performance and reliability of industrial instrumentation and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Commissioning:

    • Install and configure a variety of instrumentation and electrical systems, including sensors, transmitters, control systems, and communication networks.
    • Perform system start-ups, commissioning, and testing to ensure proper functionality and compliance with industry standards and specifications.

  • Maintenance and Calibration:

    • Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
    • Calibrate instruments and control systems to maintain accuracy and performance within specified tolerances.

  • Troubleshooting and Repair:

    • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation system malfunctions, including wiring issues, equipment failures, and control system faults.
    • Repair or replace defective components and systems, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, calibration, and repair activities.
    • Prepare and submit detailed reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and any issues or recommendations for improvement.

  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

  • Technical Support and Training:

    • Provide technical support and guidance to other technicians and staff as needed.
    • Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians and apprentices.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent training in electrical instrumentation technology.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrical Instrumentation Technician or similar role.
    • Extensive experience with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial instrumentation and control systems.

  • Certifications:

    • Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification.
    • Additional certifications in instrumentation technology or related fields are a plus.

  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor and industrial settings.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position with potential for overtime, on-call, and shift work as needed.
