Job Type: Full Time Non-Exempt Position

Salary:      $29.00 per hour

Location: Sylmar Campus

Reports to: Director of Programs 

 

Job Purpose: Ensure all GDA|TLC buildings, facilities, vehicles, and grounds are maintained in proper working order and in compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including general cleaning, maintenance, and repair work, as well as provide facilities-related assistance to staff, visitors, and others as necessary.  

 

Essential Functions: 

·         Maintain facilities, buildings, equipment, vehicles, and grounds in a clean, orderly and functional condition, including regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs 

·         Coordinate, schedule and oversee inspections, maintenance, and repair work by outside service providers; maintain records of the work performed; and ensure invoices are properly approved and timely submitted for processing 

·         Maintain compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations and adhere to all safety rules and procedures 

·         Set up and tear down for meetings, graduations and other campus events, and direct parking as needed 

·         Transport clients, guests, visitors in GDA vehicles as needed 

·         Work closely with volunteers  

·         Working overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed 

·         Other duties as assigned 

 

Essential Physical Requirements: 

·         Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, indoors and outdoors in all types of weather 

·         Ability to bend and kneel to the floor for extended periods of time 

·         Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force including pushing or moving objects 

·         Ability to push, pull, reach overhead and climb ladders

·         Ability to wear protective gear including masks, gloves, goggles, boots  

·         Visual acuity required to perform inspections and repairs, read printed documents and computer screen 

·         Hearing ability required to perform inspections and repairs, interact with staff, students, volunteers and dogs 

·         Ability to tolerate elevated noise levels, e.g., machinery and barking dogs 

 

Qualifications: 

·      18+ years of age 

·      Valid driver’s license and insurable 

·      High school graduate or GED 

·      Minimum 3 years’ experience maintaining a multiple unit property 

·      Knowledge, training and experience in basic maintenance and repair work 

·      Proficiency in using power tools, meters and testing devices 

·      Knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations  

·      Work well as part of a team and in a team environment
