Hospice Volunteer Program Manager

The Volunteer/Bereavement Coordinator in Hospice manages recruitment, training, ongoing education, and assignments for Hospice Volunteers and Chaplains according to regulatory and state guidelines. They track, evaluate, and report Hospice Volunteer hours and jobs performed to the Hospice administrative team at specified intervals. Also, they develop and participate in community outreach and education projects to improve hospice understanding in our community.
The Volunteer/Bereavement Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of all elements of the Volunteer Program as enumerated in the program description, including but not limited to the recruitment of a broad range of volunteers that can fulfill multiple assignments; seeing to it that all the levels of training are carried out; supervision of volunteers incorporating guidance, support, direction and accountability; ongoing documentation to and maintenance of the information system; processing and making assignments in response to requests for volunteer requests; cooperating with staff at all levels in the agency; engaging in positive intra- and inter-agency coordination of events, projects and department requests.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Recruit and select volunteers sufficient to meet the needs of the hospice program.
- Provide peer education, support, and supervision of Volunteer/Bereavement Recruitment as assigned.
- Develop and provide the volunteer training and orientation program. Provide supervision, and evaluation, and maintain files of volunteers. Provide volunteer services as needed as well as information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
- Works with the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) to identify the need for volunteer services to support hospice program functions and patients/families.
- Regularly attends IDG meetings and participates in the development of the IDG plan of care.
- Participates as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
- Participates in the quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) program.
- Assign bereavement coordination and ensure caregiver support for 13 months.
- Experience/Training must include management and oversight of multiple individuals; development and execution of recruitment, selection, and training of individuals providing a variety of services.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a health care setting. Hospice and/or volunteer experience is strongly preferred.
- Proof of valid driver’s license and valid auto liability insurance if the assignment includes driving own vehicle.

Volunteer/Bereavement Coordinator Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- Monday to Friday with some weekends for events and recruitment efforts
