Pharmacist In Charge

About Us:

We are a 503A pharmacy, specializing in non-sterile compounding. We provide customized compounded products for men and women’s health, hormone therapy, wellness and age management therapies.

Job Summary:

The Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) will manage and oversee several aspects of work performed in the pharmacy, including adherence to facility SOPs and procedures, adherence to state and federal regulations, and directly supervising pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. The PIC will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure production goals are achieved, assist with investigations, and assist in daily operational pharmacy duties. This is a full-time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain licensure in good standing with all applicable states
  • Coordinate license renewals and new license applications with the company’s Licensing Department
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Receive and reduce to writing verbal prescription orders
  • Perform duties in compliance with SOPs and best practices
  • Ensure production goals are created, tracked, and met
  • Interpret, and clarify with prescribing practitioner, as necessary, prescription orders
  • Input patient and prescription information or supervise the performance of such work
  • Create and print or check prescriptions, master formulation records, compounding records, labels, shipping documents, and other similar documents
  • Support order verification within computer order processing queue to ensure facility and product accuracy
  • Offer information and advice as appropriate to prescribers, other health care professionals and other employees
  • Perform in-process and final checks of compounded products
  • In general, ensure the quality and safety of dispensed compounded medications and supplies
  • Directly supervise technicians and other employees involved in day-to-day pharmacy operations or compounding activities
  • Counsel and advise patients and caregivers concerning dispensed prescriptions
  • Maintain USP 795, 797, and 800 compliance when compounding non-sterile medications.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all SOPs
  • Represent the facility in all state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication
  • Maintain the pharmacy in compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations
  • Efficiently utilize tools and metrics (KPIs) to monitor staff productivity, deliverables, timelines, and quality of work product to submit recommendations to Corporate team as it pertains to adjusting staffing levels and operational processes to ensure operational effectiveness
  • Ensure the proper training and ongoing competency of all pharmacists, technicians, and other supportive employees
  • Ensure the security of employees, the pharmacy, inventory, and patient records

Education/ Qualifications:

· BS/Pharm.D. Degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy

· Valid and current licensure as a pharmacist from the State Board of Pharmacy in Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia.

· 5-8 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist, included supervisory or management experience

· Previous IV admixture experience

· Knowledge of inventory control

· Willingness to comply with state and federal laws, regulations, standard operating procedures pertaining to the 503A sterile compounding, cGMPs, USP and all internal policies and procedures

· Knowledge of record keeping requirements and procedures

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Regular and predictable attendance

· Ability to work non-standard schedule as needed, On-call hours as needed
