Job DescriptionJob Description

Well-established commercial contracting company based in New Lenox, IL is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper / Accountant to join the team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded.
Responsibilities:
•    Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
•    Submit payroll and union reports on a timely basis.
•    Verify transactions are recorded in the correct day book, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger.
•    Bring the books to the trial balance stage.
•    Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment of invoices, with attention to cash flow management.
•    Conduct monthly reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy.
•    Prepare financial statements and reports.
•    Maintain and reconcile construction project budgets.
•    Review invoices and subcontractor agreements for accuracy.
•    Prepare journal entries and month-end close reports.
•    Monitor cash flow and forecast future needs.
•    Assist with audits of construction projects.
•    Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
•    Provide detailed, accurate records to tax accountants and consultants as requested
Requirements:
•    5+ years of bookkeeping and accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
•    Fundamental knowledge of GAAP, including a solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles.
•    Proficiency in accounting software, QuickBooks required, Deltek’s ComputerEase preferred.
•    Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
•    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•    BS degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is preferred.
