Product Metallurgist for Beverage Packaging – Can products division of our state-of-the-art Aluminum Rolling Mill.
The incumbent to this position will become the metallurgical subject matter expert in, aluminum can sheet product lines. The Product Metallurgist will interact with departmental process and product engineers to identify opportunities to meet customer requirements with improved product performance and capability. Key responsibilities will include new product development in accordance with Can Body, Can End, And Tabstock specifications, identifying technical opportunities for improvement, planning, overseeing, and assessing production trials, customer interactions, reporting and communicating findings to improve quality and production. Beyond technical expertise, the incumbent must demonstrate a strong customer-centric approach.
Qualifications:
· B.S. degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering
· 5+ years of experience in Can aluminum sheet production
· Can Body, Can End and Tabstock production experience is a definite plus
· Product development experience based on customer requirements
· Thorough knowledge of Can industry recognized material standards – SAE, ASTM, ISO, etc.
· Proficiency in: Office programs, and statistical data analysis tools
· Lean manufacturing experience with continuous improvement for business impact and innovation
· Agile project implementation, good communication skills, and experience in matrix organization
· Strong leadership, verbal & written communications, and presentation skills
