Combo Welder

JOB SUMMARY:
The Combo Welder will be responsible for welding fabricated, cast and forged carbon, stainless and other alloy piping utilizing two (2) or more methods.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Selects equipment and plans welding, applying knowledge of physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
- Join pipe sections in variety of positions and directions, utilizing two or more welding processes.
- Performs socket and butt welds on pipe sections of various diameter and wall thickness.
- Positions and aligns pipe for welding.
- Bolts, clamps and task-welds parts to secure for welding.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment.
- Cleans, maintains and repairs welding rig and equipment to include hoses, electrodes switches and wiring. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES:
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Work easily and skillfully with hands, including holding rods steady and moving electrodes precisely.
- Manipulate dials, knobs, switches and triggers.
- Effectively utilize at least the SMAW and GTAW welding processes on carbon and stainless pipe.
- May slow weld chrome, inconel, aluminum and other alloys.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and all types of weather and temperature conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Manual dexterity, sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Frequent climbing stairs/ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching and crouching.
- Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding or high structures.
- Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents.
- Hearing capacity to receive, perceive and react to common construction environment auditory stimuli.
- Lifting and/or exerting of force up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of lifting/force frequently and up to 10 pounds of lifting/force constantly to move objects.
- Frequent driving of motor vehicles.
