This is an opportunity to train with the current supervisor in preparation for future retirement.

We are seeking someone with a strong background in power plant operations or operations experience with a willingness to learn a new industry.

The Power Plant Operations Production Supervisor coordinates activities of the operating crew of the Power Production Plant and is responsible for coordinating Manitowoc Public Utilities operation for the Midcontinent Independent System Operators (MISO) system, developing and maintaining generation operating procedures, maintaining generation cost and capability profiles, and coordinating with designated agents.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides supervision of Power Plant Operations Shift Foremen, Fireman/Boiler Operators and Assistant Plant Operators.

Maintains oversight of all phases and aspects of steam turbine generators; combustion turbine, natural gas fired package boilers, sales steam and district heat systems; recognizes off normal conditions and takes appropriate corrective action to protect personnel and equipment.

Oversees operation of the power plant and facilities within regulatory requirements.

Gathers data and performs economic evaluations as required to document power production costs and dispatch decisions.

Reviews daily plant operating data and recommends changes to attain maximum plant efficiency.

Provides plant manager with daily operating reports.

Supports and promotes a strong power plant safety culture.

Sample of Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A two-year technical degree is required; four-year Bachelor’s degree is preferred with a minimum of 5 years power plant or operations experience. Will consider related experience in MISO markets.

Supervisory skills with an Everyday Leadership approach.

Possess a growth mindset with a curiosity to learn

Provide coaching and development to team.

Starting Pay Rate: $100,000 annually
