Our client is seeking a Registered Nurse with Cardiovascular Operating room CVOR experience. This is a Full Time role with 10 and 12 hour shifts available.

$20,000.00 sign on bonus is available for external candidates.

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) is a critical member of the surgical team, responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. The RN will ensure that all aspects of preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care are carried out effectively, adhering to established protocols and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • 1 year Nursing experience in OR

 

Responsibilities:

As a caregiver, you’ll apply your specialized training to deliver world-class health with human connection and make a difference every day through your extraordinary care.

Preoperative Care:

  • Conduct preoperative assessments, including reviewing patient medical history, allergies, and surgical requirements.
  • Prepare the operating room by ensuring that all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterilized and available.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement patient-specific care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families about the upcoming procedure, addressing any concerns and providing preoperative instructions.

Intraoperative Care:

  • Assist the surgical team during cardiovascular procedures, including but not limited to coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacements, and heart transplants.
  • Monitor the patient’s vital signs, anesthesia levels, and overall condition throughout the surgery, ensuring immediate response to any changes.
  • Maintain a sterile field and adhere to aseptic techniques to prevent infections.
  • Ensure the availability and functionality of specialized cardiovascular equipment, such as heart-lung machines, during the procedure.
  • Document all aspects of the surgery, including medications administered, procedures performed, and patient responses.

Postoperative Care:

  • Provide immediate post-surgical care, including monitoring the patient in the recovery room (PACU) for signs of complications or adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with the postoperative care team to develop a care plan tailored to the patient’s recovery needs.
  • Educate patients and their families about postoperative care, including wound care, medications, and follow-up appointments.
  • Coordinate with other healthcare professionals, such as cardiologists and physical therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to recovery.

Patient Advocacy and Safety:

  • Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring that patient care is individualized and respects the patient’s rights and dignity.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and safety within the CVOR.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to infection control, patient privacy (HIPAA), and workplace safety.

Team Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other members of the surgical team to provide seamless care.
  • Mentor and support junior nursing staff, nursing students, and other healthcare team members as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in cardiovascular surgery and nursing care.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of CVOR protocols and guidelines.
