Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain electrical systems in the plant to provide power for machines, equipment, lighting, facilities, and other electrical apparatus and gear.
  • Maintain controls, values, and calibrations to ensure proper functioning.
  • Diagnose, isolate, and correct electrical issues involving controls, motors, switches, PLCs, servo drives, variable frequency drives, distributed control systems, instrumentation, re-routing of circuits, and distribution centers to balance load on AC and DC power systems.
  • Make emergency repairs to minimize downtime and production delays.
  • Lay out installations based on engineering specifications and drawings for major projects.
  • Follow instructions or manuals on installations, systems layout, and changeovers to complete project work.
  • Design and execute projects to improve safety, quality, production, and ergonomics.
  • Assign duties, instruct, and guide the work of electricians and contractors assigned to projects.
  • Observe all safety precautions, especially lock, tag, and try.
  • Responsible for observing all plant standard operating procedures and safety policies.
  • Know where Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) documents are located.
  • Install, repair, and maintain manufacturing machinery and equipment.
  • Oversee, prioritize, and assign daily work to lower-level mechanics and contractors.
  • Troubleshoot machine and production problems.
  • Other maintenance duties as assigned and required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Must have knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of electricity.
  • Must have basic knowledge of electronics.
