Position Overview

The Shop Helper will be responsible of supporting the day-to-day warehouse functions within the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Works in the Shop/Warehouse handling shipping/receiving (parts/equipment)
  • Performs light mechanic duties (repairs/maintains)
  • Operates Forklift/Loader and associated equipment efficiently
  • Maintains inventory control as required
  • Ensures that all housekeeping items are maintain in a clean and order area
  • Facilities based inspection (Safety/Environmental checklist)
  • Performs commercial and non-commercial vehicle transport, delivery, and fueling as needed
  • Performs pre-trip inspections on vehicles/equipment on a daily basis
  • Performs steam cleaning such as vehicle and equipment washing
  • Supports other personnel (mechanics/parts handlers)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor exposed to weather elements, noise, dust and temperature extremes (hot/cold)
  • Ability to independently lift 50 – 75lb
  • Ability to operate computer and/or other related equipment
  • Ability to follow safe work practices and wear all required personal protection equipment for the task (safety glasses/shield, hardhat, safety boots and gloves)
  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Must demonstrate effective decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and deal with challenges/issues
  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification
  • Ability to absorb and retain formalized training
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary.
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight to perform work at other branches

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience
  • Must have a good driving record
  • Must possess a valid California driver license and have the ability to obtain a class “A” commercial license with all endorsements (Haz-Matt, Tankers, doubles, passenger or other)
