About the Opportunity

VHBG’s Lifeguard monitors activities in the pool area to prevent, recognize, and respond to accidents or injuries.

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • Effectively monitor the pool area and give direction to prevent injuries and accidents
  • Examine injured persons and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary, using training, medical supplies and equipment.
  • Rescue distressed persons using trained rescue techniques and equipment.
  • Contact emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury.
  • Contact supervisor immediately if left alone with youth by other employees. This position is NOT authorized to provide client care/supervision separate from or in addition to lifeguard duties.
  • Maintain quality of pool water by testing chemical levels and performing regular maintenance to the pool and pool filtration system.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions of pool deck and storage closet.
  • Perform other work as assigned by management or supervisors to ensure the Safety and cleanliness of the pool facility.

Education and Experience:

Must have Lifeguard Certification

Hourly Pay:

The hourly pay range for this position is $16 to $20 an hour. VHBG pays based upon work experience, lived experience (when applicable), and education.
