Production Control Manager

SUMMARY Reporting to the General Manager of Procurement and Production Planning, this role operates independently with minimal supervision. The position oversees departmental management, focusing on establishing production schedules to meet shipping deadlines aligned with customer demands. Responsibilities include proactive management of the production schedule, communication of changes to Production and Logistics teams, and adjustment of schedules as per evolving conditions. Utilization of data for performance monitoring and reporting to Operations Management is key. Additionally, the role includes supervision of the production control team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership in daily and long-term production planning, integrating product inventory, demand forecasts, customer orders, and production efficiency.
  • Ensure timely issuance of work orders to the production floor, considering available inventory and capacity.
  • Monitor short-term capacity demands to anticipate raw material needs and customer delivery projections.
  • Collaborate daily with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to assess necessary adjustments to the production schedule.
  • Generate reports with timely data to support decision-making processes.
  • Address manufacturing and procurement challenges, developing effective solutions in coordination with Operations Management.
  • Actively participate in production and operations planning meetings.
  • Review and verify records and reports for accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, enforcing company standards and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the company to resolve issues.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to employees.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee attendance and oversee employee training plans and certifications.
  • Ensure compliance with quality procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory standards among employees.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or related field required. Equivalent experience may be considered with a commitment to obtaining a degree.
  • APICS certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing production planning and logistics.
  • 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, including logistics, manufacturing planning, and demand forecasting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and MRP/ERP Systems (Syspro preferred).
  • Analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.

QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to comprehend and apply written policies, procedures, and regulations in English are required. Flexibility to work varied hours including meetings, training sessions, shift coverage, and overtime is essential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The role involves exposure to typical office and manufacturing environments, including appropriate safety measures and potential exposure to hazardous materials. The position may require movement between departments in varying weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of the job, the employee must be able to move throughout the facility, communicate effectively, and occasionally operate office and test equipment. The role may involve occasional lifting or transporting up to 25 pounds.
