Job DescriptionJob Description

This position is responsible to start-up, monitor, and maintain, within proper specifications, the energy sources, apparatuses, and mechanisms required to operate the manufacturing equipment and machinery, the facility cooling tower, and the chemical treatment systems. This position also assists maintenance personnel with overall operation of maintenance activities.

  • Review the work schedule, check equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled and prepare for operations.
  • Maintain, repair, clean and monitor plant systems (boiler, water condensers, evaporators, compressors, dump traps, accumulators, strainers, sight glasses, filtration systems, air dryers, cooling /pumping towers, etc.) as required.
  • Start-up wells, check liquid line solenoid valves, monitor equipment for leaks and spills and clean as necessary.
  • Lubricate motors pumps and bearings, change oil in pumps, gearboxes and compressors.
  • Change gaskets, install filter bags, check crankcase heaters, remove sludge, maintain solenoid valves, strainers and pressure regulators, bleed lines and perform quality control checks as required.
  • Maintain filtration systems as required.
  • Assist all Trades with repairs, replacements, adjustments, modifications to equipment, machinery, wiring, piping etc. as directed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties and complete all required paperwork.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator’s (CIRO) Certificate or equivalent. 
  • Secure a High-Pressure Boiler Operator’s license from the state of Michigan within 30 months of accepting the position.
