Direct Support Professional

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:45 am to 4:15 pm
Position Overview: The Burton Center is an Activities Coordinator to join our team. This role involves coordinating and scheduling daily lessons, recreation, and activities for consumers in a workshop setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while providing engaging and supportive activities for our consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Activity Coordination: Plan, organize, and schedule a variety of daily lessons, recreational activities, and workshops for consumers.
- Program Implementation: Ensure all activities are executed smoothly, adapting plans as necessary to meet consumer needs and preferences.
- Supervision: Oversee and guide staff or volunteers involved in activity facilitation, ensuring high-quality interactions and adherence to safety protocols.
- Consumer Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive environment, encouraging active participation and personal growth among consumers.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, and consumer progress. Prepare reports as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant certifications or additional education in a related field is a plus.
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: One-year experience in working with individuals with disabilities and special needs preferred.
Licenses: Valid SC driver's license
General Requirements: Clear oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirement: Direct care to include:
Assistance in work shop setting to include feeding and toileting.
Lift 25lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and squat.
Ability to stand or walk for long period of time.
Ability to drive and transport individuals including wheel chair bound.
