MSGL After-School Program Coordinator

We are currently seeking a motivated and dedicated After-School Program Coordinator to join our team at the Montessori School of Greater Lafayette. We are currently hiring for both our main campus and our elementary campus. This role involves supervising children aged 3 - 6 (main campus) or aged 6 through 12 (elementary campus) after regular class hours and providing engaging and enriching activities for them.


Experience and Academic Requirements:

  • Prefer a minimum of one year of experience working with children
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED


Personal Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this role possesses the following qualities and traits:

  • Ability to model the traits he/she wishes to develop in the students, including respect for others and their opinions, a desire to assist others in need, and an organized and orderly approach to tasks.
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently, fostering a positive self-esteem and encouraging the same in students.
  • Displays a genuine love of learning and exhibits curiosity about the world, inspiring students to explore and discover.
  • Upholds confidentiality in professional dealings and is open to accepting direction and supervision.
  • Demonstrates honesty in financial dealings and manages personal responsibilities effectively without interfering with school duties.


General Responsibilities:

As the After-School Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for the supervision of children who remain at school after regular class hours. Your primary focus will be on providing a safe and nurturing environment for the children, where they can engage in various activities and continue their learning journey.


Specific Duties:

  • Arrive at 2:30 p.m. to set up the program area.
  • Greet children at 3:00 p.m. and ensure a smooth transition from regular classes to the after-school program.
  • Plan and provide outdoor or indoor activities that are fun, educational, and developmentally appropriate for the age group.
  • Ensure parents sign out children as they arrive for pick up, maintaining a safe and organized dismissal process.
  • Clean up the program area after activities and lock up the designated spaces at 6:00 p.m.
  • In the absence of children for the daily program, assist the office staff with tasks such as copying, cleaning, and filing.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Executive Director to support the school's overall mission.
