Position Summary:

Provides technical support to manufacturing and related functions. Researches, develops, and improves manufacturing processes, methods, and systems for products, facilities, fixtures, tooling, equipment, and/or materials. Develops and tests work methods and procedures, ensuring performance and quality of materials, products, and machines meet specifications and standards. Ensures technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that customer quality requirements are met. Consistently meets expectations while accomplishing tasks, meeting goals and objectives in a timely manner. Completes assignments with directional input and periodic guidance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Planning, executing and reporting of priorities; Reacting to changing priorities.

· Providing general production support for all production areas as needed:

o Review and edit manufacturing work instructions for clarity and ease of use.

o Participate in the evaluation of process upgrades for production.

o Support on new product transfer activities.

o Troubleshoot issues (quality, efficiency, test) on all production areas.

o Participate in hands-on problem solving and resolution of technical issues.

o Report and facilitate correction of out-of-specification conditions.

· Determining the proper processes:

o Review current process, analyze operation standards and production layouts to propose suggestions for change.

o Assist in the design and implementation of tooling and fixtures for production use.

o Participate in capital equipment justification as needed.

o Participate in the planning and implementation of preventive and corrective actions for reducing scrap, rework and down time.

o Research and suggest ideas for new technology.

Supervisory Responsibilities:


None

Education, Qualifications and Skills:

· Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to act as a liaison between engineering, production, marketing, purchasing, and members of the manufacturing team.

· Work as a team player.

· Pursuing an engineering degree from an accredited school.

  • Experience with Solidworks a plus
  • Experience/knowledge of lean manufacturing principles a plus

· Someone entering junior or senior year preferred.

· Good mechanical aptitude.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

· Hands on mentality

Work Environment:

· This job operates in a clerical, office, as well as a manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to odors, fumes, dust or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

· The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
