About Off-Center

What began in 2010 as a small theatrical test kitchen has grown into a signature line of programming at the DCPA, credited with bringing immersive theatre to Colorado and helping establish Denver as a national hub for immersive art. No two Off-Center experiences are exactly alike but they all have one thing in common: putting you at the center of the story. Immerse yourself in an experience unlike any other.

About MONOPOLY LIFESIZED

Monopoly Lifesized is exactly what it sounds like – a life-sized version of the world’s favorite board game. Four teams of up to six people compete in a 60-minute game in a high-energy interactive experience that uses a range of theatrical effects including loud music and sounds, flashing lights, timed-rounds, group participation. and a mix of physical and mental puzzles and games that test players’ skills and creative thinking.


Work Conditions

DCPA Off-Center will present Monopoly Lifesized in our dedicated building at Broadway Park, located at 407 S. Broadway, Denver, CO.80209 from October 7th – April 20th, 2025. All work covered under IATSE Contract. On-site parking provided.


Duties and Responsibilities
Our team of stagehands will provide essential operational support for the games, including maintaining and resetting the props and the game rooms, looking after the technical aspects of the games which includes an app-based system, tablets, lighting and sound systems, and ensuring the games run efficiently in conjunction with Experience Attendants (EAs) and Hosts. The team manages time-sensitive situations in a live game setting and provides support for the Hosts leading the games.

  • Maintain regular communication with the Operations Manager
  • Start the live games and keep them running on time overseeing the smooth technical operation.
  • Power up & down at beginning & end of day.
  • Daily checks of all four boards for lighting, sound and the COGS system.
  • Use of QLAB & COGS (training will be provided).
  • Maintain tablets
  • Resolve any technical issues in a live game setting where possible.
  • Report any technical problems or fixes to the Operations Manager or Assistant Operations Manager.
  • Call for extra support on the board as needed (from Operations Manager, Security, etc)
  • Reset games both manually and digitally.
  • Clean the boards and game rooms daily.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the boards (i.e. repairs/maintenance to props/set/scenery)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Professionalism, poise under pressure, and a positive attitude towards the organization and co-workers. Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic carpentry and maintenance skills preferred
  • Ability to adhere to compliance and security and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team - self-motivated and able to manage their own workload.
  • Previous experience with DCPA and Off-Center is preferred.
  • Pre-existing knowledge of QLAB and/or COGS is ideal but not required.

The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; use ladders or work from heights; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

Compensation

$23.34 per hour with positions ranging from part-time (10-15 hours) to full-time (30-40 hours).
