Food Service Supervisor

The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for an assigned distribution site and the supervision of assigned program sites for both Riverside & San Bernardino Counties. They also are responsible for the supervision of their assigned site staff & volunteers, management program/site donations, client files, and FSA Agency, contract required documentation, and all other duties as assigned and necessary to insure program operations adhere to the Agency policies, and funders reporting requirements.

This position will also have Agency responsibilities as directed by the Program Administrator, Food Service Director or Agency Senior Management

Essential Duties:

Specific duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Manage & supervise the production and distribution of congregate and home-delivered meals for their assigned production kitchen and assigned nutrition sites according to the approved menu provided on a daily basis

2. Conducts quarterly inspections, monthly staff supervision, of assigned sites

3. Reads menus, estimates needs for each meal, and ensures that adequate supplies are available prior to meal preparation.

4. Reviews and approves assigned sites weekly inventory/complete orders per approved menu

5. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of assigned site kitchens and/or congregate dining areas according to Agency, program, Department of Health, Cal OSHA, HACCP (Hazard analysis and critical control points) standards at a minimum

6. Maintain nutrition records according to Agency and program requirements

7. Training, supervision, and documentation of FSA employees and volunteers

8. Prepares written performance evaluation of supervised employees following Agency HR policy. Document performance deficiencies and counsels staff, setting mutual goals for improvement

9. Assist in the Agency CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) process as needed to improve department success

10. Retain all records and reports required by the program and funding source to be maintained by the Agency in an organized and secured location, following HIPAA

(Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) policies/procedures for client confidentiality

10.All other duties as assigned and necessary.

11. Reports to: Food Service Director

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish speaking and writing) candidate preferred
  • At least Two years of cooking experience in the food service industry
  • At leastOne (1) year of supervisory experience in the food service industry
  • Good communication skills (written & oral)
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Fingerprint Clearance (Live Scan, DOJ FBI)
  • COVID Vaccine REQUIRED
  • The ability to read and write English and to communicate at the
  • level required for successful job performance.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current Food Handlers Permit required
  • Valid and current California Driver’s License
  • Up-to-date proof of car insurance

The following must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained as a condition of employment:

  • First Aid and CPR
  • Food Safety Managers Certification

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at least a distance of 10 feet
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work with a diverse client population and Agency workforce in a professional
  • and respectful manner

Location of work

  • The site may vary based on the need
  • Availability to work on weekends as needed
