GENERAL PURPOSE

Works under the direct supervision of the Parks Director, Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, Parks Worker I, and Parks Worker II performing a variety of semi-skilled duties related the beautification of the City such as picking up trash, pulling weeds, building trails and picnic shelters, and clearing brush.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs duties as required by supervisor: Including but not limited to clearing brush, pulling weeds, clearing trails, laying pavers, building picnic shelters, picking up litter, raking leaves, graffiti removal, painting, possible landscaping, cutting weeds, moving rocks, installing pavers, etc. Empties trash cans, pick up litter, and cleans picnic shelters.

Attends orientation, safety meetings, and some trainings.

Ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, City officials, and the public.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ages 14-25 (attach proof of age, i.e. driver's license or birth certificate); Under 15 must have work permit.
  2. Ability to use tools properly and safely;
  3. Must be a New Mexico resident (attach proof of residency, i.e. driver's license or a copy of birth certificate);
  4. Currently unemployed;
  5. Willing to work in cooperation with staffs in order to complete the goals and tasks established by the grant.

Work Environment: Tasks require a variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc. Talking, hearing, and seeing are essential to the performance of the position. Daily exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions is normal. Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity exists. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, and discriminating thinking. Frequent local travel is in the normal course of job performance.
