CityServiceValcon is a market leader in fuel distribution across multiple product lines offering wholesale ground and aviation fuel programs from top national brands and independent refiners. Commercial products including propane, proprietary card lock, bulk fuel, and lubricants are distributed from its multiple locations across Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. The company serves customer needs in aviation, trucking, agriculture, mining, construction, government, and residential homes. About the Position

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to be primarily responsible for assisting with the oversight of the daily activities for the A/P and A/R departments, including monitoring adherence to internal control procedures and helping with A/P and A/R daily procedures. The Staff Accountant will also be responsible for assisting with various G/L account reviews and reconciliations as assigned, as well as assisting with certain month-end closing procedures.

You’ll report to the Accounting Manager in our Kalispell corporate office, focusing on these key responsibilities:

  • Areas of responsibility include, but not limited to: Fixed assets, GL account reconciliations, assisting with daily EFT review, daily communication with A/P and A/R team members, monitoring certain internal control procedures, vendor/customer new account setup review, year-end 1099 procedures, tracking department calendar and various critical deliverable dates, month-end checklist maintenance.
  • Reconcile assigned G/L accounts.
  • Assist with A/P and A/R procedures related to month-end close and other various related tasks.
  • Obtaining supporting documentation for various internal and external audit requests.
  • Suggest and help drive improvements and efficiencies in processes and procedures.
  • Other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, and 2+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Sage 100 a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy.
  • General understanding of US GAAP and other accounting concepts.
  • Strong Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Awareness, understanding, and adherence to internal controls.
  • Ability to research and problem solve independently while utilizing strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and deliver on time.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with co-workers and others.
  • Strong work commitment and ability to work under pressure.
