We are currently looking for summer and long term placement(s) of a Special Education Teacher(s) for 1:1 support. Morning hours in Upper Brooklyn (Gowanus/Carol Gardens- Summer and Red Hook in the fall) and the summer afternoons spent in a beach area of Breezy Point/Rockaway Beach area. For morning academic instruction, the ideal SETSS candidate has experienced with students with visual and hearing impairments as well as ACC device and technology use.
Hours per week: In the summer, this unique case requires 2 hours of academic coaching (SETSS) three mornings per week in the Gowanus/Carol Gardens area of Brooklyn, along with 4-5 hours of afternoon SEIT-like support at the child's summer camp which is held at a beach/pool club.

This case can be shared by more than one therapist but is ideal for one therapist who would like to be truly integrated into the growth and development of a student. It is preferred the summer provider stays on part time in the fall. (Other cases can be assigned to maintain a full time caseload with our company.)
For the fall and future school years, the case will involve 2-3 days of coverage 5-6 hours per day (10-18 hours per week) as a proper SETSS teacher providing multi-subject academic support along with intensive adaptation of learning materials to support the student's unique visual impairment learning methods. Extensive use of Powerpoint, Word and several visual impairment tools and various learning and communication apps is required. Candidate must be very skilled with technology for adapting assignments in real time and ahead of time. Must also be a team player who is flexible in nature but dedicated to the case. Daily communication with the family is required due to the limited communication abilities of the child. However, the student is not your typical 'non-verbal' student but rather is on grade level for many of his academic abilities.
Planning time is paid and supervision and mentorship as well as materials is provided by the agency. Training and continuous support will be provided upfront and ongoing by collaborative teachers (Vision Teacher), agency Occupational Therapists and his parents.
This is an enhanced rate case, paid through an agency. We pay well and will support you long term. Bonus and other benefits possible for the right candidate and subsequent performance. You will work within an integrated team and not be alone on an iceberg

PAY: 70-$115/hour with bonus potential depending on experience and performance.
