EvolveImmune Therapeutics is a next-generation immunotherapy drug discovery and development company based in the Yale/New Haven biotechnology ecosystem with laboratories in Farmington and Branford, CT. EvolveImmune is harnessing its ‘Immunology First’ approach to create first-in-category cancer medicines, which aim to transform the lives of patients by delivering superior, long-term outcomes compared to current anti-cancer therapies.

The Role

We have a position open for a part-time intern in biotherapeutics team. The ideal candidate is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a science discipline. This individual is good at following protocols, communicating with others, and keeping clear records of their work. Some laboratory experience is beneficial but not required.

We are looking for a candidate who is available immediately and enjoys working in a team and is excited to experience conducting science in a biotech environment. This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who is excited about protein antibody expression and purification, and drug target discovery and wants to supplement their studies with industry experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide laboratory support for scientists working in Biotherapeutics team at EvolveImmune, which includes general laboratory practices (making buffers, cell culture), molecular biology (isolating DNA/RNA, cloning, PCR), biochemistry (protein gels, western blots, ELISA), protein biochemistry (protein/antibody expression and purification from mammalian cells and characterizations), and cell line engineering (overexpression or knockout and their validation),
  • Work with a mentor within the biotherapeutics group at EvolveImmune to learn all necessary laboratory procedures and carry them out efficiently.
  • Keep detailed records of experiments in electronic notebooks, analyze data and discuss with relevant research team members.
  • This paid internship is school-year-long (August-May, with an option to extension to Summer) part-time (20 hours per week) commitment in-person at EvolveImmune’s laboratories in Branford, CT, and limited to individuals currently enrolled at US colleges or universities. The person should be able to commit at least 9 months of time to this position and is expected to be available and start immediately.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a B.A./B.S. degree at a US college or university as a sophomore, junior or senior. If a senior they are then planning to pursue a masters after senior year and could continue the internship during the year of their masters program. PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A SUMMER INTERNSHIP ONLY. WE ARE SEEKING AN INTERN IMMEDIATELY WHO, IDEALLY, CAN START DURING THIS SCHOOL YEAR, CONTINUE DURING THE SUMMER AND CONTINUE SCHOOL YEAR 2024-2025.

Experience

General laboratory skills are nice-to-have but not required. Ability to follow directions, keep clear records, and pay attention to details are required.
