About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and truly talented professional, with a passion for cities, their planning and mobility. The ideal person will need to be able to provide expert and high-quality advice in the development of transport-related projects. Consulting experience and relevant demonstrable skills are also considered essential for this position.

In this position the professional will have opportunities to; manage work teams and development of commercial proposals, learn quickly, apply their knowledge to solve problems, manage their time and prioritize tasks, as well as handle assertive communication with colleagues, senior staff and clients. You will work as a team with senior personnel and other consultants from both our San Juan office and our international network and it is expected that you will develop work with high quality control assuming increasing levels of responsibility.

Projects may include mass transit projects, transportation policy and planning, cities, and infrastructure, as well as support in infrastructure transactions, urban planning and design, and active or passive mobility in large developments.

Key accountabilities

As a Senior consultant, you must manage projects from a technical and managerial perspective, including the coordination of working teams, quality of deliveries and the profitability of the projects with a minimum of supervision.

Also, will have to manage high quality standards of work in small and medium-sized proposals. It is expected that who occupies the position must contribute to the achievement of goals such as work won in accordance with the company's strategic plan (new market initiatives and projects).

Compensation

Steer is committed to ensuring that all its employees are compensated a fairly and at a competitive rate. All initial compensation, regardless of location, may be subject to change as skills, abilities, internal equity and geographic location are taken into account.

In addition to base salary, all employees will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus. Please review the benefits section for more information on total reward.

Steer reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional compensation.

Requirements

Key requirements:

  • Between 5-7 years of experience in the development of projects related to mobility, infrastructure and / or transport.
  • Management of consulting projects /similar /comparable experience in the public sector in engineering or planning.
  • Professional degree in engineering, urban planning, transportation planning, geography and similar.
  • Advanced level of English and Spanish (written and spoken).

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge in:

  • Research, compilation, and analysis of information.
  • Technical data reports, presentations to clients and workshops (in Spanish and English).
  • Geographic information systems (Qgis, ArcGis, Maptitude, among others).
  • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Power Point

The candidate must be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Project and team management.
  • Clients’ management in the private and public sector.
  • People Management
  • Clearly communicate project development approaches and results both written / spoken and graphically (charts, flowcharts, infographics).
  • Influence skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
  • Proactivity and collaborative work ethic.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrate high standards of quality of work.
  • Systematic structure for the development of solutions.

Additional requirements:

  • Postgraduate Studies: Master or Higher in Engineering / Planning.
  • Have the validated "professional certification" in engineering or planning.
  • Preparation and participation in the development of transport demand models at the macroscopic and/or microscopic level.
  • Knowledge of statistical packages (Stata, Biogeme, R, among others).
  • Knowledge of macro or micromodelling software (Cube, Vissim, among others.)
  • Demonstrable experience in different project areas of this nature within Puerto Rico.
