Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOverviewThe MRI Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by performing diagnostic imaging examinations using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment. They are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of the images produced, as well as providing exceptional care to patients during the imaging process. This role is vital in supporting medical professionals in accurately diagnosing and treating patients.Key responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain MRI equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Position patients and adjust equipment parameters to obtain optimal images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other medical professionals to review images and ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Assist in the administration of contrast agents and follow safety protocols during imaging procedures.
  • Document patient information, maintain accurate records, and adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Provide patient education and support to ensure understanding and cooperation during imaging procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed for MRI procedures.
  • Adhere to radiation safety standards and protocols to protect patients, staff, and self from potentially harmful exposure.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the MRI suite and equipment for optimal functionality.
Required qualifications
  • Associate's degree in radiologic technology or related field.
  • Certification in MRI technology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure as an MRI Technologist.
  • Minimum of X years of experience in MRI imaging and patient care.
  • Proficiency in operating MRI equipment and understanding technical parameters.
  • Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to MRI procedures.
  • Capability to assess and respond to patient conditions during imaging procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and team collaboration.
  • Adherence to safety regulations and protocols related to magnetic fields and radiation exposure.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying updated on advancements in MRI technology.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in a healthcare setting.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts and weekends as needed.
  • Physical ability to lift and position patients and maneuver imaging equipment.
