Position Purpose.

Our ARLCS Agricultural teacher will help to develop scholars' analytical, interpersonal, and professional skills grounded in a comprehensive understanding of agriculture. The Agriculture teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum, delivering engaging lessons, and providing hands-on learning experiences that develop practical skills. The Agriculture teacher will also commit to encouraging scholars to develop work and personal habits essential for success in AgSTEM.


Essential Functions

  • Develops and administers Ag education curriculum consistent with our ARLCS AgSTEM district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and scholar learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences. 
  • Provides instruction on the use and development of skills in the use of all relevant equipment, technology, and techniques.
  • Prepares appropriate instructional aids and display materials to enhance learning.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of scholar learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual scholar's needs, including scholars with special needs.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the agriculture field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of the ag community.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all scholar activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures. 
  • Encourages parental involvement in scholars' education and ensures effective communication with scholars and parents.
  • Ensures that scholars' conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of scholar behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in PLCs and committees.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum for agriculture courses
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote  learning and retention
  • Provide hands-on learning experiences, including field trips and experiential learning opportunities
  • Assess scholar progress and provide feedback to support scholar growth and development
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate agriculture education across the curriculum
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon scholar learning styles.
  • Knowledge of ag education curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and schools.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with scholars and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.


Certification/License:

  • Teacher Certification (preferred)

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Education or related field (required)

Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.     M - F
