Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSUMMARYThe Sheetmetal JM2 is responsible for fabricating, assembling and installing a wide variety of Components on Navy ship repair and other marine and commercial equipment. These Sheetmetal Components include, but are not limited to, Ventilation Systems, Metal Joiner Bulkheads and Framing, Furniture, Cabinetry, Lockers, Ladders and Handrails, Foundations, and Wet Spaces. As a Sheetmetal Worker, you will perform work governed by detailed technical work documents and procedural guidelines. Sheetmetal JM2 must possess trade specific tools.
DUTIES

1. Operates sheetmetal fabrication and hand machinery and equipment
2. Operates shear equipment
3. Perform precise fitting work on components
4. Running lines and leads
5. Proficient Blueprint Reading
6. Train Sheetmetal JM1 on advanced Sheetmetal processes
7. Must adhere to a promote ALL company safety policies. Wear all required PPE when in Production areas and promote a clean and safe work environment.
8. Ensure that employees assigned with firewatch duties are in place and ready prior to begin hot work
9. Fill out Job JSA forms
10. Must adhere to a promote ALL company safety policies. Wear all required PPE when in Production areas and promote a clean and safe work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe Sheetmetal JM2 must be able to meet and successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following physical demands are representative to the position. The position is active and requires extensive standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing, and crouching. Along with such movements, employee is required to lift parts/machinery of up to 75 pounds. Additional demands are listed below:

1. Able to climb ladders and work off scaffolding
2. Able to lift, carry, and or push up to 50 – 75 lbs. throughout the shift (including overtime)

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

1. Proficient Blueprint reading
2. Able to perform work with minimal direct supervision
3. Must be able to evaluate the use of various resources and make knowledgeable decisions regarding safety and company procedures and policies
4. Able to read a tape measure
5. Able to operate sawzall, 4” & 7” grinders, and various other tools
6. Able to use drills, rivet guns, nibblers, shears and rollers
7. Mid-level Ship board installation and shop fabrication layout proficiency

COMPETENCIES

3. Follow verbal/written instructions from senior Journeyman
4. Able to work independently with little to no supervision
5. Teamwork oriented

POSITION TYPE / HOURS OF WORKThis is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Schedule is Monday- Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. / 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (swing shifts dependent on workload). Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required based on production needs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Must have a minimum of 4 years of ship repair experience and/or skill set.
2. Must be able to speak and understand Basic English
