Wine Educator

FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports to: Sr. Retail & Hospitality Manager

Location: Sanford Winery – Lompoc, CA

Position Summary:

Are you ready to join a great team who is passionate about our brand and be a part of creating a world class visitor experience? Sanford Winery is looking for a Wine Educator who is responsible for providing guests of Sanford top of class hospitality and customer service. This position ensures each guest has a memorable and exceptional winery experience, where the focus is on sales and wine education, the brand story and wine club sign ups. This position will support all management initiatives by the Sr. Retail & Hospitality Manager and Hospitality & Events Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote and sell Sanford Winery & Vineyard’s wines, the Wine Club and merchandise
  • Provide guests with a memorable and exceptional experience. This includes:
    • Educating guests about Sanford Winery’s history, and describing wines and winemaking techniques
    • Developing and cultivating ongoing relationships with guests and wine club members to encourage repeat visits, referrals, and future sales
    • Hosting an engaging tasting with exceptional customer service and hospitality as the foundation
    • Setting up and conducting general and private tours and tastings for trade partners, VIPs, or club members
  • Assist with daily business functions, including opening and closing procedures, wine and non-wine inventory, and restocking
  • Handle cash and credit card transactions through the point-of-sale system

Professional Qualifications:

  • Prior tasting room, event, restaurant, or other sales (hospitality focused) experience
  • Self-starter, clear communicator, positive team player, multi-tasker
  • Effective salesperson, wine knowledgeable
  • Proficient in POS, Order fulfillment systems, Internet
  • Must be at least 21 years in age
  • Ability to lift to 50lb
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
