GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The purpose of this position is to support the Agency’s needs by providing preparation and cooking meals for the shelter program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Work with Program Manager to plan the monthly menu.
• Cook dinner for 100+ clients daily.
• Supervise client meal preparation, service and clean up volunteers.
• Assure compliance with all health and sanitation codes in food preparation, service, clean up and kitchen equipment maintenance.
• Clean pantry and assist in weekly inventory.
• Stock supplies for breakfast service daily.
• Use proper safety techniques and comply with all organization safety procedures.
• Works a varied schedule including evenings, nights and weekends.

· Regular attendance.

· Attend and complete all mandatory trainings.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Education: High School Diploma or GED with some post-secondary training in Culinary Arts Required

Minimum Years of Experience: One (1) year in quantity cooking required

Active Certification in good standing in: Quality Food Operator’s License required

Driving Required: NO Agency Vehicle: NO Employee’s Own Vehicle: NO

Physical and TB Required: YES required prior to appointment.

Physical Ability: Tasks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate depths. Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.

Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed with potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as strong odors, fumes, dusts, wetness, humidity, machinery, and toxic/poisonous agents. Risk of exposure to Tuberculosis and other contagious diseases. Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens.
