Director of Feed Ingredient Procurement - flexible location

OBJECTIVE:
To lead a regional team of procurement, sales, and marketing personnel, focused on delivering overall P&L at the volume and variable margin level through execution and ownership of business segment strategies. The director is responsible for owning the interface with the supply base and customer/market, through his/her team, to develop meaningful relationships to drive new innovation-based growth and to maintain/protect existing business. This position is the leader of a cross-functional team and is accountable for the development of the Feed Ingredient Procurement strategy as well as the related implementation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as assigned)

  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships and key accounts to ensure successful long-term relationships from acquisition to consumption.
  • Manage and motivate a high performing cross-functional team including procurement, direct sales and marketing groups and the broader affiliated team from technology, supply chain, regulatory, product management, and customer communications.
  • Deliver volume and margin targets within P grow region faster than industry average in target segments; penetrate segments and deliver market share growth.
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales and budget forecasting.
  • Participate in relevant marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and remote meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal functions (sales, marketing operations, supply chain, research, and finance) to maximize sustainable business growth.
  • Build robust account plans with key innovators and deliver relationship matrix to influence purchase decisions; deliver share growth of specialty additives.
  • Keep abreast of all industry trends, including new products, applications, and competitive moves; and effectively communicate key learning’s to internal partners.
  • Develop and deliver market activation strategies through collaboration with internal partners.

Supervisory Duties:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities within the Nutrition department in accordance with all policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required in a scientific background (Food Science, Nutrition Science); Preferred Masters or MBA.


Experience:
5-10 years related experience within the food, feed, and/or ingredients space


Work Environment:
Office environment


Physical Requirements:
Possess excellent interpersonal communication and relationship building skills, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
Ability to work within a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment, while influencing others effectively and positively.
Exhibits awareness and application of best sales practices and methods, with high-level of self-motivation and leadership skills.
Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
Must have strong combination strategic planning, decision making, and execution skills.
Strong marketing experience with the ability to develop and deliver presentations to audiences with varied levels of knowledge.
Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with manufacturers, nutritionists, producers, feed mills, distributors, and other key industry participants.
Ability to negotiate and close new business.
