The Cook is responsible to prepare all children's meals, and maintain the kitchen in accordance with all applicable regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible to prepare breakfast, lunch and snack for the children in accordance with federal nutritional guidelines, and in a timely manner
Responsible to follow the approved weekly menu and to post it in appropriate areas as directed
May participate in the preparation of the menus and responsible to order food supplies
Maintain a food inventory and other records, as required
Responsible to accept food deliveries and verify orders received
Responsible to store all food items as they are received, dating each item and storing them appropriately, e.g. dry goods, canned goods, refrigerated and frozen items
Attend Serv-Safe training and follow Serv-Safe guidelines for safe food handling
Responsible to maintain a safe and sanitary environment at all times
Attend all required meetings and trainings, which may involve evening hours
Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Prior food service experience
Certificates as required by regulation
Ability to work independently Demonstrate willingness to work cooperatively with colleagues
Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct and professional responsibility to children, families, the Agency, and the community
Maintain all required professional certifications
Physical, mental and emotional ability to accomplish the job, including assisting in evacuating the building in the event of an emergency, with or without corrective devices and accommodations
The ability to read and write, to hear the conversational voice, to speak and be understood
Lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
