SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible for prepping and applying knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques, using spray painting equipment, power tools and work aids by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Cleans sands, and applies chemical solutions to prepare and condition surfaces prior to painting
- Strips, sands, masks, and repaints surfaces, and blends and polishes finish to match surrounding areas, manually or using portable power tools
- May apply or retouch paint, using brush.
- May lay out and paint insignias, symbols, designs, or other markings on painted surfaces, according to blueprints or specifications, using stencils, patterns, measuring instruments, brushes, or spray equipment
- Inspects for Quality the areas painted for runs, sages, and unpainted areas
- Prepares product surfaces for painting
- Moves parts and equipment as needed
- Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
The training requirements include company, International Standards Organization (ISO) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements up to and including federal, state and local laws pertinent to job.
- General Safety (annually)
- Personal Protective Equipment-PPE (as needed)
- Hazardous Communication (annually)
- Quality System Awareness (annually)
- Forklift Training (optional)
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.
- Friendly, courteous, service-oriented, professional, outgoing, and customer service oriented.
- Remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Detail oriented while maintaining an extremely positive attitude.
- Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision.
- Recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional atmosphere for employees, clients and customers
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Use of safety glasses and steel toed shoes required
- One to three years experience in automotive body/paint prep preferred
