Job Description:

Provides empowerment based, survivor-focused services via call, chat, and text


Principal duties/responsibilities:

  • Responds to calls, texts, and chats on the 24 hour hotline from survivors with an immediate risk assessment in a trauma informed way.
  • Provides a personalized safety plan on calls, texts, and chats.
  • Provides trauma-informed crisis intervention on calls, texts, and chats.
  • Provides domestic violence education, victims rights and criminal justice system education on calls, texts, and chat.
  • Provides advocacy and referrals for survivors to agency programs and community partners.
  • Maintains required documentation.
  • Ensures services meet applicable qualifications standards and laws.
  • Assess needs and provide appropriate resources on calls, texts, and chat.
  • Performs statistical and administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Provides injunction for protection assistance when needed.
  • Collaborates with shelter service and other agency victim service programs to support participant needs.
  • Ensures quality assurance in hotline reviews and overall documentation.
  • Attends staff meetings. .

Occasional duties or projects which may be performed at irregular intervals:

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Attends trainings pertinent to the profession which includes annual mandatory trainings.

Accountability: Areas in which the position is accountable/responsible:

  • Quality Control: Has high accountability for quality of service participants receive.
  • Records: Accountable for ensuring records and documentation are accurate and current.
  • Policies/Procedures: Responsible for reviewing and following all agency policies and procedures.



Supervision Responsibility:

  • Not applicable.



Business-Related Contacts:

  • External contacts: Has contact with law enforcement. Has contact with other agencies in the community and other DV centers to advocate for participants and coordinate services.



Educational and/or equivalence in experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral science preferred or two years of related social service experience.

Specialized or technical educational requirements:

  • Must have knowledge of community resources.

Certification or licensing requirements:

  • Valid Florida driver's license, acceptable Motor Vehicle Report, active driving insurance, and dependable transportation is required.
  • Requires Domestic Violence Core Competency training and additional 6-hours (30-hours total) to qualify for privilege status.
  • Requires on-going 16-hours of DV related training after the first year.
  • Complete additional training as required.



Specialized equipment or machines used in the course of the duties of the position.

  • Computer skills are required.
