You'll create, maintain, audit and improve systems to meet particular needs, often as advised by a systems analyst or architect.

A Software Engineer needs to address the entire software development lifecycle - to analyze the needs, and then design, test and develop software in order to meet those needs.
What are some things you will do?
  • analyse user requirements
  • write and test code, refining and rewriting it as necessary and communicate with any devs involved in the project
  • evaluate the software and systems that make the system work
  • develop existing programs by analyzing and identifying areas for modification
  • integrate existing software products and get incompatible platforms to work together
  • create technical specifications
  • write systems to control the scheduling of jobs or to control the access allowed to users or remote systems
  • maintain systems by monitoring and correcting software defects
  • work closely with other staff, such as project managers, UX designers, other developers, systems analysts and sales and marketing professionals
  • consult clients and colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of software systems, with a view to writing or modifying current operating systems
  • investigate new technologies
  • continually update technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications.


What experience do we need from you? The list of skills and technologies, along with the amount of experience we prefer are:
  • 5+ Years of Python Experience, with Django knowledge.
  • 5+ years designing and programming for SQL relational databases required.
  • 5+ years of web development experience required.
  • Experience with Object-Oriented practices and standards.
  • MySQL, MongoDB or other relational databases.
  • Java/AJAX skills with knowledge of jQuery.
  • Experience with JSON XML, XSLT, with knowledge of XML Schema.
  • Proficient with version control, and Git.
  • Experience with RESTful web clients and services.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, and Solr.
  • Familiarity with RedShift, and cloud computing.
  • Experience with Message Queues such as ActiveMQ/RabbitMQ.
