As a family-owned establishment deeply rooted in Alaska for over two decades, with ten funeral homes and two cemeteries across the state, we're dedicated to providing compassionate care to our communities. We seek a fully licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer committed to upholding dignity and respect for the families we serve.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide dignified care for the deceased, including identification verification, embalming, grooming, and cosmetic preparation.
  • Conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies with professionalism and empathy, adhering to company protocols.
  • Engage in community outreach initiatives to support and connect with local residents.
  • Manage contracts, legal documentation, and payment processing in accordance with company policies.
  • Coordinate interments or cremations and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Ensure compliance with professional, municipal, and federal regulations.
  • Utilize internal case management and communication systems efficiently.
  • Collaborate with external entities such as cemeteries, crematories, and airlines as needed.

Requirements:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a mortuary science program from an accredited institution, as mandated by state regulations.

Experience:

  • State-required experience as an Embalmer or Funeral Director (Apprentice).
  • Preferred: Two years of relevant experience.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Fulfill all licensing prerequisites as per state regulations.
  • Possess a valid drivers license with a clean record.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of religious and fraternal customs.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on empathy and support.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and multitasking capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and positive attitude.
  • Physically capable of handling lifting and other physical demands associated with the role.
