We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Director, Data Engineering to join our team. This role involves leading the development and implementation of our data engineering strategies, ensuring the creation of efficient, reliable data pipelines, and maintaining the integrity and security of data across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building and managing data engineering teams, developing data architectures, and leveraging data to drive business decisions.



Key Responsibilities & Objectives

  • Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a high-performing data engineering team. Develop a clear vision and roadmap for the team, aligning with the company's strategic objectives. Hire, mentor, and coach team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Create and execute a multi-year product roadmap for the data engineering team. Design team processes, workflows, standards, and templates to develop fast, accurate, and reliable data pipelines and structures. Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure alignment with overall enterprise data management and governance.
  • Policy and Process Implementation: Initiate and create the Data Classification Policy Matrix to define data classification levels and corresponding criteria. Implement Agile methodology within the team, ensuring agile and efficient project management and delivery.
  • Data Architecture and Governance: Lead the design and implementation of architectures for enterprise data management and governance, including data as a service. Conduct gap analysis and deliver roadmap milestones, including the design and implementation of in-house data integration solutions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with various stakeholders, including the Senior Director of Data Analytics, BI Manager, Operations, and IT Security, to gather input and feedback, ensuring the data engineering strategies meet business needs and compliance standards.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, setting quarterly and annual goals for team members. Act as a mediator to resolve conflicts and ensure a cohesive team environment.
  • Data Privacy and Security: Increase awareness of PII data and data privacy across the organization. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Education: Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ Years of experience as a Data Engineering Manager, Data Architect, or in a similar leadership role in data engineering. Experience building and leading data engineering teams and developing data engineering strategies.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, T-SQL, Python, C#, LINQ, XML, HTML, and various data engineering tools and platforms such as ER Studio, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, SSIS, Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Postgres, ASP.NET.
  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in Microsoft SQL Server, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
