The Multicraft Maintenance Technician installs and repairs systems, apparatus, and components of industrial machinery. This is a multi-skilled position requiring both mechanical and electrical/electronic maintenance skills.

  • Follows all safety, policies, and PPE rules including, but not limited to: Confined Space Entry, LOTO, Fall Protection.
  • Confers with maintenance supervision to determine priorities for maintenance projects.
  • Diagnose variety of production equipment as needed to locate causes of trouble using proper tools, methods and/or testing equipment.
  • Dismantles a variety of production equipment as needed to gain access to and remove defective parts; repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by centering, aligning, balancing, or modifying equipment as needed.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment; connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, control systems, and PLC's.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery. Discusses malfunction with supervisor to diagnose malfunction using schematics, diagrams, manuals, PLC programs, and appropriate test equipment.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, position sensing devices, bearings, and wiring.
  • Provides backup support for retooling activities.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices as instructed for project support.
  • Performs preventive maintenance by lubricating and cleaning parts, replacing components, and following other PM procedures.
  • Starts devices and tests their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiates work orders for corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Changes out tooling.
  • Properly documents all activities and work orders per maintenance department guidelines.
  • Coordinates with other maintenance technicians to accomplish overall plant maintenance requirements.
  • Actively communicates issues and needs within and outside of the maintenance department t increase reliability and uptime of production.
  • Performs other tasks as instructed by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  2. Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  3. Must be able to write simple correspondence.
  4. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
  5. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  6. Must be able to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
  7. Must be able to read and interpret linear and circumference measurements using tape measures and calipers.
  8. Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  9. Must be able to read, understand, interpret, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  10. Must be able to operate computer-controlled panels & HMI's, including reading and interpreting console indicators and gauges.
  11. Must be able to enter data into existing computer software, following on-screen prompts or written instructions.
  12. Must be able to read blueprints.
  13. Must be able to perform mechanical schematic interpretation and electrical/electronic schematic interpretation.
  14. Must be able to read and interpret safety instructions, operating instructions, and general work instructions.
  15. Must be able perform multi-skilled tasks including basic electrical repair and wiring, mechanical maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, familiarity AutoCAD, CMMS systems, controls, automation and ladder logic programming is a benefit.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Certification preferred.
  2. Knowledge of welding processes, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electronic and electro-hydraulic systems preferred.
  3. Experience as a welder preferred.
  4. Willingness to learn and apply multiple job-related skills.
  5. Familiarity with and ability to adhere to industrial safety principles to include: LOTO, confined space, rigging, and fall protection.

  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance or sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
