We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in managing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles, and supporting our mission-driven work. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in accounting.


Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
  2. Post and review journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  3. Reconciles bank statements and balance sheet accounts; presents quality reconciliations with appropriate documentation and reconciling items investigated and explained.
  4. Maintains fixed assets software and ensures proper recording of monthly depreciation, purchases and disposals.
  5. Assist Fund Development regarding financial aspects of grant administration, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with grant requirements and ensure proper accounting for fund raising activities.
  6. Deposits cash and checks, ensuring accurate and timely processing. Backup the Director of Finance for Positive Pay and other cash management activities.
  7. Analyzes Statement of Financial Position and Statement of Activities accounts for variances; provides researched, and documented explanations; completes analyses in a timely manner.
  8. Assist in developing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  9. Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget. Provide detailed budget analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning.
  10. Prepare for annual audits and respond to external auditor information requests. Ensure the organization is audit-ready and address any audit findings promptly.
  11. Prepare information needed for the preparation of annual Medicaid Cost Reports and annual 990 and liaise with external accountants, respond to inquiries timely
  12. Cross-trains with other departmental positions to fill in as needed.
  13. Interacts with peers and colleagues and all other customers, displays a positive attitude.
  14. Performs other accounting, financial, administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.





Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with 2+ years of relevant experience, CPA certification or working toward CPA certification preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication and computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Business Central or other general ledger software. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Pivot and Power Query.
  • Ability to work additional hours during month-end closes, audits, and for strategic projects with firm deadlines.
  • An ability to stay organized while managing multiple tasks.
