Data Scientists determine what questions an organization or team should be asking and help them figure out how to answer those questions using data. Responsibilities
- Find patterns and trends in datasets to uncover insights.
- Create algorithms and data models to forecast outcomes.
- Use machine learning techniques to improve the quality of data or product offerings.
- Communicate recommendations to other teams and senior staff.
- Deploy data tools such as Python, R, SAS, or SQL in data analysis
- Stay on top of innovations in the data science field.
- Researching AI and ML use cases - assess the viability of ML to achieve tangible business outcomes and determine whether the business problem even calls for an AI solution.
- Work closely with data engineers by serving as advisors in the building of data lakes, warehouses, and Lakehouses.
- Observing patterns and anomalies from the refined data collected
- Researching AI and ML use cases catered to the different business domains and defining success criteria (in consultation with the ML architect).
- Machine learning development and tuning
- Perform data labeling activities providing context to raw data to help support the development of machine learning models
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, data science, or mathematics
- More than five years of experience with deep knowledge of ML frameworks
- 5 years of experience with the following programming languages: Python, R, SQL, SAS, Jupyter Notebooks
- 5 years experience with Data Visualization: Tableau, Power BI
- 3 years experience with machine learning including model development, evaluation and optimization using tools and packages such as: sklearn, NumPy, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- 5 years experience with Big Data, ETL pipeline, Data Warehouse
- 3 years experience with cloud technologies; particularly AWS SageMaker
- US Citizen with ability to pass a DHS specific clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Machine learning experience to include: feature extraction statistical approaches, linear and non-linear classifiers, and deep learning. ML model learning and training, hyperparameter configuration and fine tuning the ML model.
- Define use-case-specific domain and ML transformation and data selection rules for data engineers and define the ease of data accessibility.
- 5 years experience with machine learning including model development, evaluation and optimization using tools and packages such as: sklearn, NumPy, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Have a strong understanding of algorithms such as linear regression, logistic regression, regularization, decision trees, clustering algorithms, and matrix factorization techniques.
- Deep knowledge of cloud technologies
- Knowledge of Cyber Security Frameworks; NIST 800-53, SANS Top 20, OWASP Top 10
- Understand Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) practices, including DevOps principles such as IaC, containerization and CI/CD pipelines
- Well organized with ability to communicate complex topics effectively across teams
