Cyber Security Intern

Evolver Federal is seeking a motivated Cyber Security Intern to join our team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast paced and evolving field of cybersecurity. Our Cyber Security Intern will gain experience working in an agile and cross functional team environment and will work closely with our cybersecurity experts to support various federal projects and initiatives aimed at safeguarding and protecting cyber environments. As an intern, you will work closely with our team of subject matter experts to assist in various aspects of security operations, including threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, and security awareness.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring and analyzing security alerts and events to identify potential threats.
- Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities.
- Aid in the implementation and maintenance of security controls and technologies.
- Help develop and deliver cybersecurity awareness training and educational materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address security issues and concerns.
- Assist in incident response and mitigation efforts as needed.
- Contribute to the documentation of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field with a minimum 3.2 GPA
- US. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous internship or relevant work experience in cybersecurity.
- Experience with NIST Risk Management Framework in complex information systems and organizational environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus).
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C/C++.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and models such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, GPT, CNNs, and generative models
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Familiarity with operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of engineering, programming, and software testing principles
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to leverage expertise in technical writing and presentations.
- Ability to review software source code against secure coding standards.
- Ability to analyze documentation, including design documents, architecture diagrams, and interface control documents (ICD), for potential security vulnerabilities.
- Demonstrated current broad-based understanding of computer technology, design, standards, and products based on both solid formal training and experience.
- Experience with computer or network security coursework.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Excel and Office
- Evidence of flexibility and adaptation to changes in processes, requirements, and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
